Setting the mood is key to any party.  If you are on a budget, the key is to concentrate your efforts on grouping what you do have to set the scene;  trying to decorate too many areas with a too few products will lessen the effect or the mood.  Your main table for food or cake will have the biggest impact.  Add a real pineapple and a couple of coconuts, and you are ready for the party.  The above picture concentrates a few items to have maximum impact with little expenditure.

The above set includes the following:

1 ea -Authentic Natural Table Skirt (314N)

1 ea- Blue Fish Net (453B)

1 set- Seashell Tiki Torch Set (463)

1 ea- Seashell Bowl w/ladle (480)

2 ea- Coconut Cup w/Straw (112)

2 ea- Silk Jumbo Carnation Lei (214)

This set bought individually would cost $ 47.19.

The seashell bowl can be used for punch or for serving chips; the coconut cups for decoration or you can put dip or condiments in them.   Add Citrenella oil to your lamps for mosquito/pest control.     If you are having games, you can distribute the leis as gifts at the end of the party.  Decorations can be fun and useful so as not to clutter your table.

RECIPE IDEAS:

Pacific Sunrise

1 1/2 oz rum (optional)

2 oz pineapple juice

2 oz orange juice

grenadine

Mix rum, pineapple and orange juice.  Add crushed ice, then pour a small amount of grenadine in the glass.  Garnish with an orange slice, pineapple chunk and cherry on a pick or umbrella pick for decoration.  Without the rum, kids love them and love the garnishment!  Looks great in the Hurricane Glass w/Colored Bases.

Hawaiian Chicken

1 Chicken, cut into pieces

1/4 cup Pineapple Juice

1/4 cup Terriyaka Sauce

1 stick Butter or Margarine, Melted

1 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp Grated Lemon, Lime or Orange peel

1/4 cup Lime Juice

1/3 cup Pineapple Juice

2 tsp Terriyaki Sauce

Cut chicken or buy it already cut and place in plastic container with lid.  Mix the 1/4 cup of Pineapple Juice and 1/4 cup Terriyaki Sauce.  Pour over chicken and marinade it over night. When ready to grill, in a saucepan mix the remaining ingredients and cook over a medium fire until sauce has thickened.  Salt and Pepper the chicken and place on grill.  Brush mixture on chicken every 15 minutes until cooked, 35 minutes or until juices run clear.

Pineapple-Coconut Rice (even our Non-Coconut lover liked the taste of this recipe)

14 oz coconut milk

1 1/2 cups uncooked instant rice

3/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

12 ounce can drained, crushed pineapple

1/4 cup finely chopped scallion (very optional)

In pot, bring coconut milk to a boil.  Stir in rice, salt and pepper;  cover.  Remove from heat and let liquid absorb (around 5-8 minutes).  Stir in around half the can of drained pineapple and scallions (if you choose).  Serve in cut pineapple.

12 ounce pineapple chunks, drained

12 ounce mandrain oranges, drained (can use fresh oranges instead)

1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

1/2 cup sour cream

1/8 cup honey

Mix marshmellows, pineapple, oranges and walnuts.  In a seperate bowl, mix sour cream and honey(taste to see if you like the balance).  Pour over fruit and mix.
